👕 About the Project
6. Why use art and t-shirts to raise money?
Mohammed and his siblings, nieces, and nephews are naturally artistic and love to draw. Since the violence escalated, they’ve turned to drawing as a way to escape and express what they’re experiencing. It was Mohammed’s idea to turn their artwork into tangible products that people would want to wear — both to raise money for his family and to support their grassroots relief work in Gaza.
7. What is the Gaza Food Relief Project?
The Gaza Food Relief Project is a grassroots mutual aid effort that provides urgent supplies to displaced families in central Gaza. Please see our About page for more information.
8. Is this a nonprofit organization?
No. This is not a formal NGO — we are a community-led project with direct, on-the-ground impact.
🤝 Staying Involved
9. Can I give more directly to the Gaza Food Relief Project?
Yes, absolutely! You can donate directly to their mutual aid work through their fundraising campaign. If you’d like to support the Ayyad family with their personal survival needs, please consider donating here.
10. Will I get updates about where the money goes?
Yes—we’re happy to provide updates upon request. You can also check out our Donation Tracking page to get information at any time.
🛡️ Trust & Communication
11. How do you ensure the money is actually reaching the intended people in Gaza?
We follow instructions directly from the Ayyad family to ensure the funds are delivered safely into trusted hands. Since most banks in Gaza are not operational, getting cash to the family requires going through a third-party intermediary inside the strip who takes a commission. For full transparency, the amount received on the ground is usually between 65–70% of what was sent. If you’d like to donate more directly, please consider contributing to the Gaza Food Relief Project or the Ayyad family’s GoFundMe.
12. Are the Ayyad family and this project connected to any political group?
No. This is a grassroots, civilian-led effort with no affiliation to any political party.
13. Is it legal to send money to Gaza?
Yes, it is legal and currently possible to send money to Gaza. That said, it’s logistically complicated and requires a third-party intermediary within Gaza to deliver cash directly. As mentioned above, there is typically a 30–35% commission involved. While the process isn’t ideal, it remains one of the few available ways to get money into the hands of families in need.
14. What if I want to help but can’t afford a shirt?
No problem— if donating money isn’t in the cards right now, use your voice! Share this project with your friends and family. And no donation is too small. If a $35 shirt isn’t in your budget right now, you can give any amount directly to the Gaza Food Relief Project or the Ayyad family fundraiser. Sharing this project with others is also a huge help.
15. How often will you update the site with receipts and progress?
We plan to update the site with new receipts, messages, and progress every week.
